Fastfood chain expands services to Minglanilla, eyes other towns

McDONALD’s Delivery Service will expand in Metro Cebu to serve customers up to Minglanilla proper soon when Mc-Donald’s Tabunok, which opened five months ago becomes operational as a hub for the service more known as 8-MCDO.

“We’re just fine-tuning our communication channels in Tabunok and we’ll soon go full-swing,” Rommel Ong, manager for brand extensions, disclosed during McDonald’s sixth anniversary celebration of the 8-MCDO.

Ong revealed that 8-MCDO in Cebu now contributes “very significantly” to total daily sales of the stores that serve as delivery hubs for the service.

Many Cebuanos now have embraced the service, especially since we started operating 24 hours last year,” he said.

8-MCDO is accessed in Cebu by calling the local number 348-MCDO (6236). It covers Cebu City up to Busay and Talamban, the whole of Mandaue City, Consolacion proper, the entire Mactan Island and Tabunok in Talisay City.

Five of McDonald’s 13 stores in Cebu, those at Cebu South Road, Jones, JY Square Lahug, Cebu North Road and Mactan, serve as delivery hubs. They started operating 24/7 on Aug. 8, 2007, to cater to professionals who work late, as well as employees of call centers.

As McDonald’s Tabunok starts serving as a delivery hub by the fourth quarter of this year, the service will already cover the whole of Talisay City and Mingla-nilla. A study will also be made if it will be feasible to extend the service as far as the City of Naga and San Fernando.

Ong said 8-MCDO is unique among all fast-food deliveries as customers only need to remember one contact number. The customers’ name, contact and geographical information are stored in a central data base. (PR)
