Tuesday, September 02, 2008 Talk back: On the Bangsamoro state By Illo V. Cardosa Malabuyoc, Cebu
(This is a reaction to the news story titled, “Mindanao should secede; prof” (Sun.Star Cebu, p. A4, Aug. 14, 2008).
WHILE I highly regard and respect the professor for his vaunted erudition, I disagree with him on his support for independent Bangsamoro state of the entire Mindanao and to secede from the country.
The professor, I suppose, knows fully well that the second largest island of the country is predominantly a Christian land. Nowhere could we find in history books that the whole island of Mindanao is the ancestral domain of our Muslim brothers.
In this regard, the professor is only sowing further trouble amid the present broiling situation in Mindanao.
Of course the professor is entitled to his personal opinion, but not to the extent of bringing it to the seminar attended by students from different schools in Cebu City.
I hope the professor will reconsider his stance somehow in the long run.
