Mandaue Lawyers humble Northwoods

THE Mandaue Lawyers marred the erstwhile unblemish record of league heavyweights Northwoods following a nailbiting 84-79 overtime win for their fourth victory in six games in 2008 IBP Cebu Basketball Tournament held at the Capitol Parish Gym last Saturday.

The lawyers rallied from a double-digit deficit early in the fourth quarter to forge overtime after a 68-all standoff at the end of the regulation period.

Northwoods lost steam in the extra period and the Mandaue quintet delivered the killing blows in the final two minutes for the win.

It was Northwoods’ first loss in six games.

In the other game, Pecandela used a 25-16 blitz in the second quarter for its fifth win in six games after handing Eagles its back-to-back defeat, 68-63, in six games. (RCM)
