PB member's truck falls off cliff

ONE was killed while four others were wounded after a cargo truck fell off a 30-foot cliff in Argao town.

In Cebu City and Oslob, two vehicular accidents took place involving motorcycles.

The incident in Argao, Cebu happened past 5 p.m. Friday in Barangay Lapay, a mountain village 12 kms. from the town proper.

PO1 Benjamin Jerosaga identified the casualty as Jose Sevellano, 27, of Sitio Lala-an, Barangay Busala, the truck driver.

He reportedly failed to control the vehicle when its steering wheel stopped functioning.

Police received the alarm at 6 p.m.

The truck, owned by Provincial Board Member Wilfredo Caminero, was leased to carry harvested corn.

Trip back

The accident happened on the trip back to the town proper.

The truck boys, Miguel Nacilla, 21, Alwalter Alcain, 22, Patrocinio Mansueto and Nicomedes Mansueto, all of Barangay Busala, jumped off the vehicle and were saved.

The victims were taken to the Isidro Kintanar Memorial Hospital where Sevellano was declared dead because of severe wounds and bruises.

Jerosaga said Sevellano left behind three children and wife who was pregnant with their fourth child.

Jerosaga said Caminero assured to help with the victims’ expenses.

In Daan Lungsod, Oslob, a 17-year-old boy who was driving a motorcycle was wounded after he hit a Cimaron van driven by Danilo Aragon of Negros Oriental.

Without license

The motorcycle, according to a police investigation, had no plate number and had no documents while the boy had no driver’s license.

The motorcycle reportedly suddenly crossed the street while the van was running, hitting him instantly. The boy was thrown to the opposite lane and hit a parked tricycle at the side of the road, causing his injuries. He is confined at a Cebu City hospital.

The driver of the van was also bruised while the parked tricycle was damaged.

In Cebu City, a vehicle issued to the Cebu City Mobile Group (formerly Security and Service Group) figured in an accident with a motorcycle yesterday dawn.

The motorcycle was driven by Marcelito Legaspi, 29, of Barangay Babag. A report submitted to the Cebu City Police Office stated that the Nissan Terrano, with plate number SHX 139 and body number 022, was driven by PO2 Edcel Borres Surban.

Both vehicles incurred damages after colliding at 2 a.m. in Barangay Sirao. (MEA)
