Hyundai introduces latest product line in Cebu

HYUNDAI is introducing to Cebu its latest models, which received awards shortly after being wheeled out of the manufacturing plant.

The Hyundai i-Series—the i10 and 130—are meant to reaffirm the car manufacturer’s position as a determined challenger in the global automotive arena.

First released by Hyundai Motor India in October 2007, the i10 won a total of five Car of the Year Awards (COTY) in India—within four months since its launch.

The i10 is expected to reap more successes in the Philippine auto industry.

Hyundai’s i30 was named Australia’s Car of the Year at the 2007 CARSguide Car of the Year Awards—a historic first for a Korean-made car.

The i30 was also voted CARSguide Green Car of the Year in Australia, emphasizing the turbodiesel’s remarkable fuel-efficiency and eco-friendly performance.

The i30 got its second Car of the Year award in Spain.

Stylish, sleek and engineered to keep pace with today’s new generation of motorists—the i Generation, Hyundai’s i10 and i30 sport more than the usual features and conveniences.

Impressive

For its compact size, the i10 thrills as well as enthralls with its impressive drivability and zippy responsiveness.

Equipped with a 1.1-liter gasoline engine, the i10 delivers maximum power of 66 ps at 5500 rpm and maximum torque of 10.1 kg-m at 2800 rpm.

Not only is the i10’s engine performance unexpectedly powerful, it is also remarkably economical and “green” in operation with its improved intake and exhaust system that helps burn fuel efficiently, lessening its impact on the environment and the owner’s wallet.

The i10 is equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox for manual transmission and a smooth-shifting four-speed automatic system for automatic transmission.

The i10 also has Motor Driven Power Steering (MDPS) with manual tilt function for niftier handling. The i10’s MDPS makes for a more fuel-efficient ride, as it does not add load to the engine.

The i30, on the other hand, offers a choice between a gasoline-fed or diesel-fed powerplant.

Crafted in aluminum block, the i30’s state-of-the-art 1.6-liter gasoline engine is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission that boasts of new A/T control mechanism, reinforcing the engine’s fuel efficiency. Churning out a maximum power of 121 ps at 6200 rpm and maximum torque of 15.6 Kg-m at 4200 rpm, the i30’s gasoline variant evidently puts vitality into everyday driving.

The i30’s diesel sibling, the 1.6-liter CRDi with VGT (Variable Geometry Turbocharger), is an exceptional performer as well.

Unleashing a maximum power of 115 ps at 4000 rpm and maximum torque of 26.0 kg-m at 2,000 rpm, the i30’s diesel model is made even more efficient with the VGT that allows turbo boost to be constantly adjusted for consistently reliable engine performance and fuel economy.

The i10 and i30 are also equipped with radio and CD/MP3 player (for i30). (PR)
