NBTC D-League opens in Cebu

THE National Basketball Training Center goes full blast with the launching of the Developmental League aimed to develop the skills of the young players.

NBTC National training director Eric Altamirano launched the Nokia-NBTC D-League together with prospective team owners and coaches at the Yayoy’s Grill yesterday.

“This is the first Developmental League in the Philippines today. We called this press conference to announce the launching of the NBTC D-League which will start on Nov. 8 (here in Cebu) and second we wanted to invite players to join the Talent Identification Camp slated on Sept. 14 at the Sacred Heart School-Jesuits Gym. This is for 16 years old and under,” said Altamirano.

The players from TIC will be selected into the four teams which will compose of the Cebu league.

The four teams include two bankrolled by Cebu basketball patrons Michel J. Lhuillier, Daisy Condensada and Penshoppe.

In yesterday’s meeting, Lhuillier was represented by the M. Lhuillier Sports Development Foundation (MLSDF) Executive director Eddie Ybañez, Daisy Condensada was represented by Giovanni Ong and Penshoppe sent Albert Ong.

Coaches present were Delfin Pepito Jr. of UV Baby Lancers, Roland Remedio and Sesum Asignar of USC Baby Warriors and Julius Caballero of Don Bosco College.

Also present were Rommel Rasma the Visayas Training in-charge and Al Solis who is the Cebu training director and the overseer of the Cebu tournament. (RCM)
