Wednesday, September 10, 2008 Good badminton down south By Luis A. Quibranza III
OUR country might have scored a triple zero during the recent Olympics. But is that any reason to be discouraged?
In fact, should that stop us from having fun and enjoying a good sport these days with friends? Do you have a badminton racket lying around somewhere at home? Do you have the extra time and cash to spend?
If you answered “no” to questions one and two, and “yes” to questions three and four, then you might like to, at least, finish reading this article and learn more about this place.
Just along the south highway in Basak, Pardo, Southpoint Badminton Alley offers quality facilities and a decent venue for all the cool badminton aficionados to sweat it out.
But, of course, you don’t have to be a professional to have fun. All you need is the will to celebrate and perhaps a wallet with just enough cash in it to get you past the “fee collecting buddies” who mean you no harm but are just there to do their duties.
The alley welcomes members and guests alike. Students can even avail of great discounts, if they come in groups of five and present their IDs to the counter.
On weekdays, the place is open at 9 a.m. On weekends, it opens earlier at 6 a.m. Play on any day you prefer, up to as late as midnight.
And a little bonus: there’s even a spa at the alley, ready to attend to those who want to end their rubber matches—with a few rubs to pamper their aching body.
