Saturday, September 13, 2008 Versus: cake or ice cream By Luis A. Quibranza III
CONFUSING, indeed: cake or ice cream?
Both desserts are dream snacks for almost everyone. Be if smothered in chocolate or left plain in its sugary goodness, the answer to the question of “which” becomes a challenge yet to overcome. So, which sweet is sweeter to the tongue for some people? Let’s find out.
“Pwede both? Bitaw, if we have to strictly adhere to the conditions. I’ll go for ice cream. Cold and sweet, with many flavors to boot. It’s a sweet tooth’s fix.” - Ross Marionne Alexander Beltran, 19, student
“Cake. Ice cream is best eaten on a hot day; cake may be enjoyed either on a warm or rainy day. By the way, an ice cream cake is classified as a cake, right? So, cake is better! Go, cake!” - Katrina J. Villegas, 22, med student
“So which came first... the chicken or the egg?” - Kina Buendia, 22, banker
“Ice cream. It always makes a bad day, turn great.” - Julz Benabaye, 19, photographer
“Ice cream, ultimately. Cake just tastes like chiffon with sugar. Ice cream, on the other hand, refreshes because of its coolness, and satisfies one’s craving for sweets.” - Mary Anne Collantes, 18, student
“Cake. It’s more fulfilling and more variety of texture aside from flavor.” - Kyna Fortune P. Natinga, 21, med student
Wow. The versus segment is indeed getting harder by the issue. But the point is, whether cake or ice cream, classic desserts just can’t be compromised that easily.
Which leaves us with a question: What classification does “ice cream cake” fall in? And the debate continues.
