Coaching Life
By Eunice A. Borlasa

“I BELIEVE I was a nobody especially when I entered the University of the Philippines (UP) but I gained confidence and developed my leadership skills when I joined LIFE Coaching Program of Every Nation Campus Ministries (ENCM),” said Blessy Gokotano, an ENCM Staff.

ENCM is a worldwide ministry in universities to help students excel in academics, develop leadership skills and pursue a God-centered lifestyle. Its four priorities evolve in training students for leadership, integrity, faith and excellence (LIFE). “LIFE Coaching” is the very heart of the organization.

LIFE Coaching is an avenue where students are mentored to develop moral character, learn new skills and discover their talents.

It is designed for students to be trained by LIFE coaches who are young professionals and students who have gone through the program.

As a leader for eight years, Vynz Nograles, an alumna from University of San Carlos and point person for ENCM-Cebu, said he has proven that he is an effective leader by stepping up from being an ordinary student to a LIFE coach. He envisions there will be more youth to rise up as good leaders in their homes, campuses and fields of expertise.

They teamed up with the Educators Club and College of Nursing of the Cebu Normal University (CNU) for various seminars. Recently the supreme student government of CNU invited the group to their third student leaders’ congress entitled “Step-Up”, which was participated by eighty leaders from class mayors to the officers of different associations.

The official leaders convergence dubbed as “Campus Harvest Manila ’08” took place also last summer. Four thousand youth all over the country and from abroad attended.

On Oct. 23-25, its Visayas Leaders’ Convergence will happen in Cebu. Leaders from Iloilo , Bacolod, Dumaguete, Roxas City and Cebu will gather for empowering the group.

Now, ENCM continues training students for leadership. It is known as an organization in UP, CNU, and the Cebu Institute of Technology. (For more information log on to www.encmcebu.multiply.com or visit them at the 3rd floor of Dakay Building , Escario St. Cebu City)
