ALL the other Cebu Schools Association Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) basketball players posted little challenge to the two representatives of University of Southern Philippines-Foundation Panthers, slam dunk king Elwin Durano and three-point specialist Moncrief Rogado, as they bagged the title in the Cesafi All-Star event, yesterday, at the jammed packed Cebu Coliseum.
Durano meant business in the slam dunk competition as he stunned the eager fans with all his three dunks. The 19-year-old cager was given a perfect score in all three of his dunks scoring a total of 150 points.
He sent cheers from the crowd with his first dunk—a graceful 360 degrees two handed slam.
The audience reacted the same way in Durano’s second attempt when he did a reverse two-handed windmill from the baseline, and when he leaped over fellow Panther Jordan Bardillas followed by a left hander dunk.
Behemoth center Greg Slaughter, Junmar Fajardo and 2005 slam dunk titleholder Eulogio Lasala Jr. were no match for Durano’s impressive dunks.
On the other hand, in the three-point competition, Rogado dominated all the other 18 competitors with his accurate shooting from beyond the arc.
Rogado finished with a total score of 44 points, scoring 21 in the first round and 23 in the second.
Trailing Rogado was University of the Visayas guard Von Lanete with 31 points and Southwestern University’s Cresente Litorja with 30 points.
Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association three-point king Chester Cokaliong was a guest in the contest and scored only a total of 21 points. (EKA)
