Hyundai opens bus, truck shop

THE first dealership of Hyundai trucks and buses based in Cebu was inaugurated last week to offer to target market segments brand new and fuel-efficient vehicles.

D’ Limitless Vehicle Ventures Corp. showcased in its 600-square meter showroom at the North Reclamation Area the complete line-up of Hyundai buses, as well as light duty and heavy trucks, designed for businesses that are involved in tourism, construction, mining, logistics and transportation, among others.

The product line-up includes mixer trucks, tractors, buses (Aero Town Bus, County Bus, Super Aero City Bus and Universe Bus), cargo trucks, dump trucks and special vehicles.

D’ Limitless marketing consultant Cristopher Rey Tio said the biggest advantage of these income-generating vehicles is their prices that, he pointed out, are only twice as that of a reconditioned surplus vehicles but 20 to 30 percent cheaper than other brands.

“Plus, these are brand new trucks and buses and they arrive here already completely built-up,” he told reporters.

Jennifer Agleron, product manager of Maxima Machines Inc., said the Hyundai vehicles have engines with electronically-controlled fuel injection systems making them more fuel-efficient.

“Hyundai (through its trucks and buses) want to be a total logistics solutions provider,” she added.

She said that what is also important is the product support for the buyers in terms of parts availability, services and training. These services are provided by the Cebu dealership whose “growth rate is very fast,” she added.

Maxima, whose headquarters are in Quezon City, is the exclusive distributor of Hyundai trucks and buses in the country.

While the corrosion factor of the buses has been “very much reduced,” Agleron said that the direction of these vehicles in the next few years would be to make their engines compatible with biodiesel.

Presently, Maxima is promoting the use of compressed natural gas in Laguna for Hyundai’s 45-seater buses. (NRC)
