Tuñacao-Laurente battle in Mandaue tonight

FORMER World Boxing Council flyweight king Malcolm “Eagle Eye” Tuñaco will clash with Philippines No.2 contender Monico Laurente for the vacant Philippine bantamweight crown at the Mandaue City Plaza in the first installment of ALA Promotions’ boxing series called “Fight Night”.

The veteran ring warrior Tuñacao is looking to win the Philippine title and restore his remarkable career. He was victorious in his return bout, after a year of layoff from boxing, against Tanzanian Rashid Ally who he destroyed in the very first round of
their battle.

Meanwhile, Laurente of the Elorde Stable, has won his only battle this year against Robert Rubillar, who succumbed to the 24-year-old pugilist in the of their fight in Parañaque City.

Tunacao possesses a striking professional boxing record of 22 wins 2 losses and 3 draws with 15 knockouts while Laurente has 7-3 win-loss record with a single win by way of knockout.

In the supporting bouts, undefeated Joel “Yao Ming” Zaspa (1-0-1, 1 KOs) of Bantayan will be pitted against newcomer Janlee Paingol of the Yebes Stable, Eastern Samar’s Leo Torres (2-1-1, 1 KO) will be standing toe-to-toe with Boholano Powell Balaba (0-3-1), hard hitting Ronilo Lawis of Bohol (2-0, 2 KOs) will be trading leathers with Ramil Cabalan (0-2) of DBP Stable and Larry “Bon Jovi” Canillas will be up against Andelo Andajar (0-2) of the DBP Stable.

This boxing series is promoted by ALA Promotions in partnership with Summit Natural Drinking Water. The “Fight Night” boxing series will be touring monthly in major cities like Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Tagbilaran, Bacolod, and Cebu. (EKA)
