Fluvial procession

THE starting and ending points of the fluvial procession for the Virgin of Peñafrancia on Sept. 27 has been changed from Malacañang sa Sugbo to Pier 3.

Fr. Jerome Cayetano, SVD, president of the Bicol Association of Cebu Inc. (Baci), said the changes were made to avoid delays due to the time it would take to complete the procession.

Accordingly, the participants of the motorcade to bring the Virgin of Peñafrancia to Pier 3 will assemble at 12:30 p.m. at the Capitol Parish Church.

The group will leave at 1 p.m. and will arrive at Pier 3 at about 1:30 p.m. The fluvial procession will end at about 3 p.m.

From Pier 3, the motorcade will go back to the church where the novena mass will be offered at 5:30 p.m.

This will be the first time a fluvial procession for the Virgin of Peñafrancia, fondly called “Ina” by devotees, will be part of the fiesta celebration. The Baci has been marking the feast of the Peñafrancia, patroness of Bicolandia, for the past 26 years.

The novena masses started last Friday and will continue until Saturday.

Novena

Novena masses are on weekdays at 6 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays at 5:30 pm. After each novena mass, a fellowship dinner is being held at the Social Hall.

The fiesta mass will be on Sept. 28, 5:30 p.m. and will be followed by a kaorogmahan (fellowship) at the Capitol Parish
Gym.

This year’s hermano and hermana are Amado and Clara Cabaero.
