German food, products in fair

A TRADE fair featuring products from Germany and Cebu will be among the special features in a local hotel’s annual beer festival.

Marco Polo Plaza’s German food fest, which wil be from Oct. 1 to 14, will also be held inside the hotel’s ballroom to ensure the celebration will continue whatever the weather will be, said Lynn Romero, Marco Polo’s sales and marketing consultant.

Hotel chef Luke Gagnon, for his part, said they will still serve grilled sausages, German salads and desserts inside the ballroom to give guests the “best of both worlds.”

Marco Polo events and promotions manager Carlo Borromeo said the highlights of the celebration are the Oktoberfest or beer fest and the trade fair, which will be both on Oct. 10 and 11.

Pia Velasquez, membership and business development officer of the European Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Philippines, said they are still finalizing the list of exhibitors during the trade fair.

The fair aims to strengthen linkages among companies, organizations and individuals with business interests in Europe and the Philippines.

Velasquez said they will also present the trend of going green, which is being promoted by companies in Germany.

“Most (German) companies, if not all, are into recycling,” she said.

German investors have set up manufacturing and services businesses in Cebu.

Cebuanos, for their part, are exporting furniture, accessories and housewares to Germany. (CYR)
