4 policemen file direct assault charges against 2 men in disco brawl
IT was a show of camaraderie when four policemen filed a direct assault complaint against two people involved in a disco brawl.
In trying to pacify violence during a disco in Barangay Kampoot, Tuburan, Cebu, PO1 Pedro Limalima Jr. suffered injuries in his right hand. Along with him, PO1s Roberto Rondina, Maximo Villagonzalo Jr. and Carlo Balasoto filed the complaint before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor.
The respondents are Manuel Unidos and Eutiquio Unidos, whose relationship the complaint did not state.
The policemen, in a joint affidavit, said they received a report about a fracas in a basketball court, used as a dance floor, early morning of Sept. 21, 2008.
As members of the “alert team” they checked the incident.
Those involved in the disturbance were the Unidoses and cousins Rogelio and Danilo Guarin.
The police tried to pacify the squabble but Eutiqiuio and Manuel allegedly resisted, punching Limalima in the process. PO1 Limalima was injured.
Susano Guarin, 63, also filed an affidavit that he was a party to the trouble. While dancing, a drunk Manuel allegedly punched him. His son Danilo and nephew Rogelio tried helping him. Then, a drunk Eutiquio also allegedly joined the fight.
Susano also attested to the punching of Limalima by Manuel and Eutiquio.
Rogelio echoed his uncle’s testimony, adding that he tried to help Susano because his uncle is too old to defend himself in a fight. (JGA)
