Medical society to probe CCMC only if City Hall files complaint

SHOULD Mayor Tomas Osmeña file a formal complaint on the performance of the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC), the Cebu Medical Society (CMS) would conduct an investigation, said a CMS official yesterday.

“If the mayor will send us a formal complaint, we can do an investigation,” said Dr. Nilepta Lim, president of the CMS.

She explained that unless the organization received a formal complaint form, they could not start an investigation on the reportedly poor performance of the hospital.

While the mayor earlier admitted that were some improvements in CCMC’s operations in the last few years, he said that he was not satisfied with how it was managed and with the services given to the public.

This is why Osmeña has decided to sell the hospital and use the proceeds to build more health centers in the city and improve existing birthing centers.

Lim admitted that the CMS has heard about the hospital’s poor performance but did not know of the details of the case. (EPB)
