DBU, Crazy Horse rout foes in Aboitiz Cup

THE Don Bosco United FC (DBUFC) showed it is the much superior team as it trampled the University of Southern Philippines-Foundation Alumni FC (USP-F Alumni FC), 4-1, victory in their Men’s Open match of the 12th Aboitiz Football.

Cup yesterday at the University of San Carlos-Technological Center football grounds.

DBUFC quickly established its dominance as it scored the first goal seven minutes into the contest from a strike by Crisanto Sanchez near the penalty area.

After 21 minutes, winger Warlo Sabella stunned the USP-F Alumni FC defenders as he scored a long goal from the left side of the field to take the 2-0 early lead.

Lemar Baunsit then added another goal for DBUFC with an uncontested strike from point-blank range that breezed past through the USP-F Alumni FC goalie.

In the waning minutes of the first half, Sanchez scored his second goal for the commanding 4-0 lead for DBUFC.

USP-F Alumni FC tightened its defense in the second half and called in a few substitutions to hold DBUFC scoreless in the second half of the game.

However, it was just too late as it had a hard time in the offensive end because of DBUFC’s smothering defense from start to end.

Rene Menchavez was the only scorer for USP-F Alumni FC in the 79th minute of regulation, convering a difficult free kick jsut outside the penalty area.

On the other hand, the defending champion Crazy Horse crushed the visiting Bohol squad, 4-0.

Epifanio Ynot drew first blood with a goal in the 7th minute of regulation.

Masahiko Yugi added a second goal for Crazy Horse in the 31st before Mitsuo Tsunakiri hit the third 15 minutes later to increase the lead to 3-0.

Christian John Jover sealed the victory with a strike at the 89th minute of the game.

Meanwhile, after two days of action in the Men’s Open, the Aboitiz Cup will go full blast with the rest of the division having their first round matches this Saturday at different venues all over the city. (EKA)
