At 400th year, Argao awards 64 achievers
THEY brought pride to their hometown, thus they were recognized.
At least 64 townsfolk and eight institutions were awarded by the Argao Municipal Government during its 400th founding anniversary at the town’s multi-purpose gymnasium last Sunday.
Mayor Edsel Galeos said that it was only appropriate to “pay tribute” to the Argawanon achievers because of their unparalleled involvement for the development of their town.
Selection
Galeos said the executive committee carefully picked the awardees that excelled in their respective fields and contributed in the development of the municipality.
The mayor urged the youths to accept the challenge and responsibility as the future of the country and make their town proud of them.
“Achievements come in many forms and in many ways,” said Galeos.
Achievers
For his part, Presidential Management Staff Chief Cerge Remonde said it took the town government about 400 years to choose and select “achievers” of Argao town.
Remonde thanked the search committee for taking the hard work in selecting the “deserving achievers.”
He also encouraged the future town “achievers” to follow their dream and become the residents that the town government could be proud of them.
Among of the outstanding Argawanons include Remonde, former Chief Justice Hilario Davide Jr., Romulo Davide, Dr. Agustin Kintanar, Jr., Simeon Kintanar, and Fr. Osbaldo Padilla.
Meanwhile, the most outstanding institutions were MIMA Transit, Sesaldo Transit, Starlife Transit, the government of Australia, Association of Argawanon OFW and Joam Schoorlemmer and Eric Nicholas. (GMD)
