Friday, October 03, 2008 Bartolo, Getaruelas rule 10K run
DAVAO City’s Elmer Bartolo and Cebu’s road queen Liezel Getaruelas ruled the Male and Female Division of the 10K Open Divisions of the recently concluded World Heart Day 2008 Celebration held last Sunday at the Cebu Doctors’ University.
The competition attracted 709 runners from the different running clubs, independent runners and doctors.
Bartolo was followed by Riz Enriquez, Charlie Berberio, Jaffy Lumongsod and Kid Dignos, while Madelyn Carter, Merlita Arias, Janice Ramos and Sarah Dupio completed the top five finishers in the women’s class.
Aside from the Open categories, Dr. Potenciano “Yong” Larrazabal III ruled the Male Doctors Category – topping the field of 16 doctors in both Male and Female Division.
Doctors
Larrazabal was followed by Dr. Glenn Cag, Dr. Raymund Bontol, Dr. Harem Deiparine and Dr. Mateo Tipgos, while Dr. Emily Estrada won the Female Division, which also had Rosan Trani and Nicole Cang completing the top three finishers.
Top five
The Male 3K Division was ruled by Mc Louie Cuyos, with Mariel Tambiga, John Lord Saratan, James Ivan Monisit and Jacob Nodalo taking the next four spots.
Catherine Marie Cuyos won the Female title.
Completing the list of winners were Gardo Bartial who won the 6K Male Mepz Runner Division followed by Felix Monares, Pablito Siaple and Allan Alagos.
Fria Marie Gani topped the Female class with Bernardita Recilia, Emy Gerado and Amites Ravina taking the second to fourth places, respectively.
Last Sunday’s run had 357 in the 10k Open Categories, 238 for the 6K Categories including Mepz and Fun Run, 98 for the 3K Categories and 16 doctors. (RCM)
