Getting their wishes
By April Joy Seville
STC Mass Comm student

“BE careful what you wish for because you might just get it all.”

This is the line that best describes how the boxing scene of Talisay City has become alive once more. Resty A. Seville, the president of the Talisay City Amateur Boxing Association (Tacaba) and Golden Dream Promotion, organized a comeback of the boxing event in Talisay on his birthday last April 17.

It was his birthday wish to liven up the boxing scene and continue producing world champions that Talisay used to have. With the help of international referee Teddy Alivio, this wish has now come true.

On Oct. 3, 2008, the WBO Oriental Super Bantamweight Championship will take place at 6 p.m. at the Talisay City Sports Complex.

The event named, “Fight Night Talisay City: The Heat is On” will feature Anthony Marcial of the Philippines against Thong Thai Rajanondh of Thailand. Supporting the main event is the WBO Asia Pacific Light Flyweight Championship featuring Johnreil Casimero (10-0 7 KOs) and from the Philippines against Thailand’s Liempetch Sor Veerapol (10-3 7 KO)s.

The general admission for this event is P200 while the ringside ticket will cost P2,500.

Wish list

This fight is sponsored by Tanduay, Viva Entertainment, Omega Painkiller, Nature’s Spring, PCSO, and Globe. The SGG Sports Promotion and the Talisay City Sports Commision headed by Councilor Rudy Cabigas have also helped in making this event happen.

“It’s a blessing in disguise that Tacaba was formed since they (the Talisay City Sports Commision) have the equipment and are just waiting for someone to actually use it,” said Resty Seville.

A follow-up fight by December, which will also be that for a world title, is the future plan of the Talisay boxing organizations’ president—another one of his wish list that will soon find its way to the real world.
