Duel hurts student

A HIGH school student who was playing computer games at the side of the road got shot by one of two men who were in a duel over another girl in Barangay Sawang Calero, Cebu City yesterday dawn.

Jogie Garcia Cabasan, 20, was watching her neighbors play a coin-operated computer game along Gines St., Sitio Tagutungan at 12:30 a.m.

Suddenly, a gunshot went off and then Cabasan felt pain in her right leg.

The gunshot was traced to two men, identified as Marino Tampuz and Roel “Botchoy” Bindol, who were allegedly arguing nearby.

Senior Insp. Mario Monilar, chief of the Cebu City Homicide Section, said the two were fighting over a girl.

Witnesses told responding police officers that the two men were each armed with a handgun.

No one could say which of the two fired the gun first. When the gun fired, both scrambled in different directions and were nowhere to be found.

Cabasan was rushed by bystanders to the Cebu City Medical Center. She is a freshman at the Gothong National High School. (MEA)
