Witness describes radioman’s wounds
AN expert witness identified the five gunshot wounds that Aklan broadcaster Rolando Ureta took in 2001, as the defense wrapped up the cross-examination of the prosecution’s eyewitness.
National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Manila medico-legal officer Dominic Aguda was presented as the prosecution’s fourth witness yesterday.
Aguda said that during his autopsy, he found five gunshot wounds in Ureta’s body. Ureta was fatally shot on Jan. 3, 2001.
Ureta had multiple wounds in the abdomen, back and chest. Aguda identified the chest wound as the most fatal.
Dr. Aguda’s expertise was admitted in court by defense lawyer Ferdinand Marcos. The latter also admitted the existence of the postmortem examination report, autopsy report and the sketch of the victim’s wounds.
Earlier, the testimony of eyewitness Gerson Sonio, a balut vendor, was terminated after he has been presented at least four times.
He testified seeing two men kill Ureta, program director of Radio Mindanao Network–Aklan. He identified the gunman as Jessie Ticar and Amador Raz as the driver of the getaway motorcycle. (JGA)
