Saturday, October 04, 2008 Speak out: The real pro-lifers By Lianh v. Racal and Eludo Sandro
THE growth of our population is alarming and if nothing is done by the government, time will come when people will starve.
Some government officials are therefore introducing and endorsing artificial birth control methods to ease the economic crunch resulting from overpopulation.
The issue has become controversial, however, when groups of people from different religions started to rally against artificial methods of family control and called themselves pro-life.
We think these religious groups should not meddle in the affairs of the state, much more if the intention of the state’s acts is for public good.
If we will not embrace family planning, what will happen to the poor children whose parents cannot afford to feed, clothe and give them proper education?
It is noted that most big families are poor, with some even living in the squatter's area.
They can hardly give enough attention to their growing children, driving the latter to be rebellious.
