Speak out: Smoking warning

THIS is not to decry the ever present notice on every pack of cigarette, “Government warnin: smoking is dangerous to your health.”

Admittedly, smoking is an insidious deceiver. Health authorities say a stick of cigarette is enough to reduce by ten minutes one’s life expectancy.

Not only that, there are related harmful effects of tobacco, like lung cancer, emphysema, loss of appetite, addiction, etc.

But in today’s real life situation when prices of commodities have become prohibitive, the only consolation for the average income earner is a handful of rice paired with tuyo.

Meaning poverty is causing malnutrition.

So cigarette manufacturers can also post this notice: “Warning, the government is dangerous to your health.
