Coca Cola Tigers battle Talk ’N Text in Phil. Cup

MANILA – The Coca-Cola Tigers and Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters, two teams that showed significant rivalry the past season, start their campaign when they meet in the opening of the 34th KFC-PBA Philippine Cup at the Araneta Coliseum today.

The Tigers and the Tropang Texters, winners of the All-Filipino Cup in 2002 and 2003 respectively, collide at 6:30 p.m.

Child actor Makisig Morales takes centerstage along with the world-renowned Las Piñas Boys Choir and Cynthia Lora, world champion in the Performing Arts competition in the elaborate opening ceremonies set at 4 p.m.

The two-time UAAP cheerdance champion UP Pep Squad and the Koine Children’s dance group complete the cast in the rites, which will have US Ambassador Kristie Kenney as guest of honor.

The 35-year-old Asi Taulava is expected to lead the Tigers against his former team, which undergone massive facelifting in an effort to end a five-year title drought.

Coach Chot Reyes is expected to give enough playing time to his four new acquisitions in Jared Dillinger, three-time PBL MVP Jason Castro, Rob Reyes and former San Beda College guard Pong Escobal. (FCC)
