Saturday, October 04, 2008 Siso, Satera lead Cebu team in Milo tennis
SALLY Mae Siso, one of Cebu’s top junior netter, will be embarking on her final bid for the Malaysian tennis circuit when she competes in the national finals of the 21st Milo Junior Tennis Cup today at the San Beda College-Alabang tennis courts.
For years, Siso has competed in the four-leg tennis competition in Malaysia, where she continues to be a huge hit and even won all four singles titles last year.
This will be her last year to qualify through the Milo competition, which serves as the qualifying leg for Filipino junior netters 14 years old and below.
The national winners of Milo will be sent to Malaysia on an all-expense paid trip. Siso, the 14-year-old stalwart from University of San Carlos, hopes to snag another slot in the RP team competing in Malaysia.
There is a category for 16-Under, but Milo only caters to the 14-year-old and under netters.
Siso will be leading a lean team of up-and-coming tennis players from Cebu.
She will be joined by Palarong Pambansa gold medal winner Fritz Satera, who will compete in the Boys 14-Under division.
Ed Adrian Parangan of Nangka Elementary School, who was recently named the Most Outstanding Athlete in the Milo Little Olympics, will be trying his luck in Manila as he competes in the 12 years old age group alongside Jana Pages, who competes in the distaff side of the same age group.
Christopher Encarnacion, who will compete in the 10 under unisex division, completes the Cebu roster. (MCB)
