THE fund-raising concert of the multi-awarded Cebu Chamber Singers has been moved to Oct. 24 and the venue is no longer SM City Cebu but the Cebu City Sports Center fronting Marriott Hotel at the Cebu Business Park.
Tickets to the 2:30 p.m. matinee show are P200 apiece while those for the 7:30 p.m. gala presentation are P300 and P500 each.
The concert, titled “The 2nd Movement: A Musical Journey,” will feature everybody’s favorite selections. Maestro Dennis Gregory Sugarol conducts. For tickets and queries, call or text Gladys’ cell phone at 09228556132 or mine at 09268443888.

THE choral group will be staging the Oct. 24 concert in order to raise funds for its flight to South Korea where it will bring the name of Cebu and all Cebuanos in a major international choral singing competition next month. The group is confident it could bring home the bacon. I share the same confidence.

THE recent culmination and fellowship party of five local press clubs at the Sacred Heart Center was a real fun gathering of fellow media practitioners.
The party was hosted by the Cebu Association of Media Practitioners Inc., headed by Jun Alcover and this writer, president and vice president, respectively. The four other clubs represented in the party were the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas, headed by Leo Lastimosa; Visayas Media Association, chaired by Pol Bulilan; Cebu Tri-Media Association (I “forgot” its president’s name); and Sugboanong mga Komentaristang Nagpakabana, led by former Cordova mayor Arleigh Sitoy.

WHAT made the party so delightful and memorable was the presence of Vice Gov. Greg Sanchez Jr., the event’s inspirational speaker, Cebu city Vice Mayor Mike Rama whose own version of The Way You Look Tonight was so cool and former Mayor Alvin Garcia who did a very short version of Till There Was You. Cordova Mayor Addy Sitoy once again proved that he is the undisputed ballroom king although ace photojournalist Loy Jurado and Kia Motors media liaison officer Dan Nolasco tried so hard to outperform the dancing mayor. Yours truly did a Cebuano novelty song, which led Alcover to think of producing a show here featuring top comedian Norman Mitchell and this writer as the performers. Sounds exciting.

YOU should not miss the 2nd Cebu Children’s Popular Music Festival on Oct. 18, at around 5 p.m. at the Cebu International Convention Center. This project is under the auspices of the Cebu Provincial Government thru the office of Board Member Agnes Magpale who chairs the Sangguniang Panlalawigan committee on family, women and children. Ten entries are vying for big cash prizes and trophies during the event. It is produced and directed by Gani and Gloria Villarojo, the wonderful couple behind Soundtraxx Production Studio. I will be the program emcee.

THE songwriting and singing competition, aptly titled “Halad sa Kabataan,” is designed to encourage our children to hone their skill at composing songs and interpret them for the general public to better appreciate and understand their predicament as individuals. This project is also a clear manifestation and proof of Gov. Gwen Garcia’s genuine concern for the children and their plight.
By the way, the Villarojos are also producing compact discs of the 10 songs.

THIS political clan is seriously considering either leasing or buying a local radio network owned by another political figure here. Once the deal is finalized, expect a major development in the Cebu broadcast industry.

THIS former broadcaster here is now based in Dubai where his lucrative PR business keeps him very busy. Being a saxophonist, he can and may also engage in a part-time job as a musician there. (E-mail: samcost@yahoo.com or text 09268443888).
