Neri: 'Daghang Salamat & Madayaw Awards' 2007-2008
By Nelia G. Neri

The annual Philippine Airlines (PAL) "Awards for the Visayas and Mindanao Sales & Services" is always a red-letter occasion for the top producers of the airline. This year’s do, dubbed as "Daghang Salamat & Madayaw Awards" 2007-2008, was a formal affair held at the Century Park Hotel in Manila. With Hollywood as theme, the party was definitely an evening of glamour and glitz. Oh yes, the stage was all a-glitter... a fitting backdrop for the PAL superstars.

VIPs present were president and COO Jaime Bautista, EVP/deputy CEO Henry So Uy, SVP-Finance and CFO Andrew Huang, VP-Sales Enrique Javier and country manager Maria Milagros Revilla. Very much around too were SAVP-Cargo sales Edmund de Luna, AVP-Visayas Sales Bob Salazar, SAVP-Mindanao Sales Domingo Duerme, AVP-Revenue Management Domestic Millie Braganza, AVP Marilou Mendoza and the PAL teams from the Visayas and Mindanao stations.

In his speech, PAL president Jaime Bautista thanked the agents for helping PAL make it to its fourth straight profitable year. He also shared that the airline continues to upgrade and improve its carriers and is in fact on a multi-
million dollar re-fleeting program.

Gold awardees for international sales were Marget Villarica of Destination Specialists, Paquito and Zenaida Chua of Worldwide Travel, Aida Uy of Cebu Fortune Travel and Grand Holidays. For domestic sales, the gold went to Bacolod’s Travel Lounge, Destination Specialists, Travelways and Iloilo’s Eon Travel. In the cargo division, the gold slot went to Yusen Air and Sea Services.

Other stars of the evening were called onstage - the silver and bronze awardees from Cebu and other places in the Visayas and Mindanao for passenger sales and cargo. And then came the Station Awards in recognition of outstanding PAL stations in the Visayas and Mindanao.

Entertainers at the party were singing talents Nikki Gil and Eric Santos, while the program emcees were PAL-Cebu’s Herman Garganera and PAL-Davao’s Pinky Pineda.

This year’s Daghang Salamat & Madayaw Awards proved once again that teamwork is the name of the game and that the teamwork in PAL always produces the desired results. Kudos to our PAL friends: AVP-Sales and Services Bob Salazar, manager-Passenger Sales of Visayas Sales and Services Chris Lebumfacil and the rest of PAL’s guys and gals.
