CPPO cop nabbed for pointing gun at minor

AN allegedly drunk member of the Cebu Provincial Police Office’s Special Reaction Unit (SRU) was arrested for allegedly pointing a gun at a minor early morning yesterday.

PO1 Samuel Alvares, 30, married, from Barangay Ermita, Cebu City is detained at the Carbon Police Station.

The Special Weapons and Tactics (Swat) team of the Cebu City Police Office arrested Alvares past 6 a.m. yesterday near Freedom Park in Carbon Market, Ermita, after receiving a call for assistance.

The Swat team, led by SPO2 Igmedio Labra and the miscellaneous team of Carbon Police Station, arrested Alvares after a 17-year-old boy accused the police officer of pointing a gun at him.

A .45 pistol loaded with five bullets was confiscated from Alvares.

The Carbon Police Station is still waiting for the complainant to file charges today against Alvares.

Balamban case

Meanwhile, in Balamban town, a policeman was detained after he allegedly rammed his car into a temporary “no entry” barricade in Balamban town yesterday dawn.

SPO1 Praxilo Famulagan Albiso of the Toledo City Police Station spent the night at the Balamban Police Station after acting police chief Senior Insp. Resty Santos saw him drive his car into the barricade.

The barricade, made of pipes and a sign, was placed in front of the municipal sports complex where a dance was held as part of the town’s fiesta celebration.

PO3 Celso Diaz of the Balamban Police Station said Albiso came all the way from Toledo City.

Report

The report submitted by the Balamban Police Station stated Albiso “forced his way” towards the front part of the sports complex. Since a dance was being held there, the front part of the complex was barricaded to keep it free from obstructions and to make it easier for the crowds to move around.

Santos and other police officers who were tasked to secure the complex saw what happened. No one was hurt.

Albiso was taken to the Balamban District Hospital for a liquor test. The results were not yet released yesterday, but Albiso was allowed to go home in the morning.

Diaz said they already informed the Toledo City Police Station about the incident and added that an investigator was already sent to their station to get a copy of the spot report and the recorded entry of the police blotter. (MEA/JTG)
