Speak out: Selfish motive
By Illo V. Cardosa
Malabuyoc, Cebu

THE Reproductive Health Bill (HB 5043), which is now pending in Congress for plenary, is the brainchild of lawmakers who are only after their selfish ends. They make laws that are not relevant to solve the present deteriorating economic condition of the country.

They crafted the bill just to give credence to their high position in the government for comfort and grandstanding.

They should instead make laws that can bring down the ever-increasing prices of food and prime commodities; laws that can eradicate unemployment and uplift the living condition of the poor.

What the country needs is immediate solution to the food crises that we are now experiencing.

HB 5043 is not the answer to the lack of food and the deplorable state of the Filipino people at this time. But it has been given importance and priority by the proponents, perhaps to veer away our attention from the realities of the desperate economic condition of the country.

I hope the lawmakers who are behind this bill will change their mind and reconsider the passage of the bill, if ever, until such time when the nation will regain and recover from economic difficulties.
