‘Judge’ Castro pardons driver

ASSISTANT Cebu City Prosecutor Mary Ann Castro filed a report of malicious mischief at the Guadalupe Police Station after a trisikad accidentally hit her Kia car late last Monday afternoon.

Castro, who reportedly referred to herself as a judge in Lapu-Lapu City in reporting the incident to the police, told SPO2 Winifredo Costelo that she had parked her car for a moment along M. Velez St., Guadalupe, Cebu City when a trisikad driven by Rolando Melloria bumped its rear right side portion.

The accident occurred at 5:45 p.m. Damage to Castro’s car was estimated at P3,000.

Castro and Melloria went to the police station to have the accident recorded.

The prosecutor has been reportedly appointed as Lapu-Lapu City Municipal Trial Court in Cities judge. De Castro, however, has yet to receive a formal notice of her appointment.

SPO2 Costelo, in a telephone interview, said that Castro forgave Melloria and waived the latter’s liability of paying for the repairs. (JTG)
