SilkAir’s newest aircraft flies in with ‘new look’

SILKAIR has announced the arrival of its newest Airbus A320 aircraft.

According to the company, the aircraft’s cabin design features a fresh autumn color scheme that soothes and welcomes upon sight. This “warm” charm is set to progressively replace the classic “cool” look of the rest of SilkAir’s fleet.

The company adds that the new ergonomic seats are designed to fit one’s body shape most comfortably. They are fitted with flexible headrests to enhance one’s travel experience. Business class seats are leather-upholstered. The airline’s latest fleet addition also offers more spacious overhead compartments.

“With its new look and a close attention to detail, this aircraft was designed with every intention to meet—and surpass—our customers’ expectations of top quality and premium service,” said Chin Yau Seng, chief executive of SilkAir.

SilkAir recently ranked fifth among the top ten international airlines in Travel + Leisure magazine’s World’s Best Awards.

Climbing four spots from ninth ranking last year, this is the airline’s fourth consecutive year on the list and it is once again the only regional carrier among the top ten international airlines. Rankings are measured from an average of readers’ ratings in five areas: cabin comfort, food, in-flight service, customer service and value to customers.

“It is a tremendous honor for a regional airline like ourselves to be once again distinguished as a premier service, and placed amongst the world’s best long-haul carriers,” said Chin.

Jointly developed by Airbus and SilkAir, the new cabin design reinforces the airline’s new brand campaign themed “Journeys to Treasure”. Launched in July, the campaign will highlight the airline’s service through a series of print, radio and outdoor advertising initiatives.

The Airbus A320 brings SilkAir’s fleet to a total of 15, and is the first of 12 aircraft on firm order to arrive.
