Thursday, October 09, 2008 Kalunasan group wants to purchase lots from Capitol
BARELY two days after the Capitol announced the impending release of the deeds of sale to 589 listed occupants, a homeowners’ group in Barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City asked that they also be allowed to buy the lots they are occupying.
The Lower Kalunasan Homeowners’ Inc. (Lokahoma), during its recent board meeting, passed a resolution asking the Cebu Provincial Board (PB) to pass an ordinance allowing them to purchase the lots.
The PB “noted” the resolution during their regular session last Monday.
Not covered
At least 21 lot occupants in Barangay Kalunasan under Ordinance 93-1 will be receiving their deeds of absolute sale on Oct. 21.
Lokahoma, however, is not covered by that ordinance.
The homeowners’ group, led by its chairman Rogelio Maquiling, proposed an agreement with the Provincial Government for them to avail themselves of a socialized housing program.
Lokahoma also wants to be recognized as “the sole association” on Lot 1248 and wants to be involved in livelihood projects intended to help low-income families.
Trigger
Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia recently announced that 589 occupants of Capitol-owned lots under Ordinance 93-1 will receive their deeds of absolute sale on Oct. 21.
A terminated lot-swap proposal between the Capitol and the Cebu City Government led the Provincial Government to directly negotiate with the occupants.
The occupants set to receive their deeds of sale from the Capitol include those in Barangays Lahug, Cebu City, with 171 occupants; Camputhaw, 48; Apas, 23; Busay, 9; Mabolo, 15; Capitol Site, 18; Lorega, 7; and Luz, 277. (GMD)
