Globe tops Thirsty Hoops Jam

GLOBE Osam reaffirmed its mastery over House of Hope, this time via a 65-63 squeaker in their sudden-death final to clinch the championship of the 7th Thirsty Hoop Jams Inter-Company Basketball Tournament at the Bright Academy Gym in Bry. Banilad.

During their first meeting in the elimination round last Aug. 24, Globe Osam also prevailed over House of Hope, 96-88. Tabay again topscored for Globe Osam with 16 points, while Tommy Abasolo and Albert Villaber combined for 25 points.

Globe Osam and House of Hope engaged in an air-tight battle the entire game with neither team leading by more than five points.

Globe Osam took an early 17-14 lead, but House of Hope pulled within just a hairline at the intermission, 34-33.Globe Osam ended the third period with a four-point edge, 49-45, and then kept its poise and composure until the closing seconds of the match to preserve the two-point victory.

Joseph Filoteo and Ammodia topped House of Hope with 14 points each followed by Jimmy Abello with 14 markers.

The missing link was Roel Patunob, who was held to only two points.

Meanwhile, Veco settled for third place honors after winning by default over Thirsty Juices and Shakes.
