Eye candy
By Clint Holton P. Potestas

HIS latest fashion showcase is a nostalgia of the 70s disco houses. It consists of the short dresses, constructed with “exaggerated” ruffles and over-sized sleeves, suitable for sophisticated cocktails and club parties.

“This inspiration is derived from the 70s when the crowd insisted on a fabulous bright colored (outfits), which inspired me to focus my collection on the vibrant color of candies. I think they are the colors that everybody wants to have,” explains Viajar.

An impression of a candy man is given to Viajar since, from one collection to another, he infuses the multi-colored candy wrappers into his designs.

For Viajar, nothing could ever surpass the joy of seeing women wearing bright dresses on the street. He observes that Cebuanos are “receptive” to the introduction of modern style.

His keen eye for colors is a tool in facilitating the adventurous hues of turquoise blue, red, lime green, orange, and fuchsia pink.

The 70s theme is completed with vintage pieces such as headbands, bangles, horse hair, and crystals. For him, these accessories have added spunk to his style identity.

To enhance the vibe, he opted for an Italian taffeta silk that because of its volume, it could execute fabric puffs, foldings, and bubbles.

Working as a resident designer at Chester Enterprise, Viajar advices that fashion should depend on your preferences, body type, and lifestyle. It’s also best to know the occasion and venue in choosing your outfit.

After all, fashion is personality.
