MANILA—The newly-rejuvenated Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters gun for their third straight win and the solo leadership today when they battle defending champion Sta. Lucia Realty in the 34th KFC-PBA Philippine Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.
Coach Chot Reyes of the Tropang Texters said several adjustments is necessary to make up for the continued absence of the injured Ali Peek against the Realtors in their 4 p.m. encounter.
In the other game, Air 21 Express, the recent Fiesta Conference runnerup, seem to feel the pressure because of two straight losses when they collide against Barangay Ginebra at 6:30 p.m.
Reyes admitted that the defense of the Realtors is hard to contain but the Tropang Texters have the advantage of a much deeper bench, which may offset their size disadvantage.
“Our advantage is our depth and we have too many players but we have a problem in size because of the absence of Ali Peek,” said Reyes.
Defense
On the other hand, Sta. Lucia coach Boyet Fernandez said that they have to play good defense to limit Talk ‘N Text small men.
“With regards to their big men, they have to find ways to stop Marlou (Aquino) and Dennis (Espino). We have to step-up because we are 0-1 and they (Tropang Texters) are 2-0 already,” said Fernandez, whose Realtors are aiming to become the first team to retain the All-Filipino crown in years. (FCC)
