Tagbilaran beats USPF, 2-0

THE visiting Tagbilaran Squad had a well deserved win as it defeated the favored University of Southern Philippines-Foundation Alumni FC, 2-0, in their Men’s League football match of the 11th Aboitiz Cup yesterday at the University of San Carlos-Technology Center football grounds.

Oliver Gasco opened the lead for Tagbilaran City with a goal in the 20th minute and Alvin Mangubat made it 2-0 in the 87th minute of the match to clinch their first victory of the tournament.

Tagbilaran City improved to 1 win 1 draw and 1 loss, while USP-F fell to 1 win and 2 losses.

Meanwhile, in the other Men’s League action, the defending champion Crazy Horse proved that they are still the team to beat as they survived the powerhouse Don Bosco United FC , 1-0.

In the 38-above games, Queen City United drew with San Roque FC, 2-2, while Hiroshi crushed AJTS, 7-0.

On the other hand in last Saturday’s games, Abellana National School/Pomeroy defeated Sacred Heart School Jesuits, 5-0, their Boys 17 game, while FC Inter Cebu won against Center for International Education, 6-2, and Blessed john XXIII School 2 routed University of San Carlos 6-1.

In the Girls 17 matches, Melbourne destroyed Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepcion-Mandaue, 12-0; FCIC pounded Sacred Heart Hijas White, 5-0; and SHS-J wiped out Aretha, 10-0.

SHS-J thrashed BJS 1 5-0 and FCIC overpowered FCIC 6-0 in their Boys 14 category games while Paref-Springdale demolished Don Bosco Boys Home 9-0 and SHS-J 2 drew with ANS/Pomeroy 2-2 in their Boys 12 matches. (EKA)
