Thursday, October 16, 2008 Utzurrum: And they lived happily ever after By Chinggay V. Utzurrum The scene
ONGOING at the Tides Restaurant of Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa is the Cebuano Food Festival, a first for the five-star hotel. Guest culinary consultant is our very own Jessica Avila, undisputed Cebuano authority.
The celebration is also to mark the hotel’s 15th anniversary. At the hotel lobby, don’t miss the masterpieces of 15 Cebuano artists, whose canvases capture the various and vibrant nooks and crannies of the luxury resort, as their eyes and mood perceive them. Paintings are for sale, with 50 percent of proceeds to be earmarked for the hotel’s favorite charity, the Batang Opon Foundation. Food fest and exhibit will run till Oct. 24.

We were romantically touched by the quotation on the wedding invites of the Castillo-Campued, union, which read: “The path that leads to happiness is so narrow that two cannot walk on it unless they become one.”
And so they, Matthew Castillo and Rebecca Campued, son and daughter of Romel and Yvonne Castillo and Reynaldo and Jessie Campued, respectively, did become one: one heart, one life, one love.
Nuptial rites were held at the Garden Terrace of the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel where the theme colors were summery olive-cum-lime green. Immaculate white florals stood at the sides, as the guests aahed and oohed at the green panorama of trees and shrubs, beyond. Well, this was a Garden Terrace, wasn’t it?
Officiating Pastor was Noel Centino. Principal sponsors were garbed in varying shades of green, for the madrinas, and midnight black for the padrinos.
Standing as best man for Matt was Mariano Ramon P. Baccay III, while Joanne Rosarie C. Liboon was maid of honor.
After the solemn alfresco rites, the newlyweds received their guests at the buffet area of the Terrace.
Best wishes and may the lovebirds grow in love and fidelity!
