Air21 targets first win

MANILA - Fiesta Cup runnerup Air 21 Express hope to end a three-game losing skein when they face the Coca-Cola Tigers today, while San Miguel Beer and Talk ‘N Text break their tie at second in the 34th KFC-PBA Philippine Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Express, who lost to Barangay Ginebra in the finals of the import-laden conference, 3-4, last August, continued to falter and dwelled in the tail end of the standing.

But coach Bo Perasol remains hopeful and urges the Express to regain their confidence as they collide against the Tigers at 5 p.m.

The Beermen and the Tropang Texters, both carrying identical 2-1 slates, meet in the second game at 7:30 p.m.

“More than anything else, we need to find within ourselves the will to win again. We need to desire it, not just wish for it,” said Perasol.

Perasol admitted the difficulty of winning in the All-Filipino conference, saying the Tigers, who came from a close 103-102 double overtime win over Purefoods last Wednesday, is a strong team and hard to beat.

“ Coca-Cola is a big stumbling block in gaining our first win. But we have to find a way to get over this hump,” said Perasol.

In the other match, Coach Chot Reyes of Talk ‘N Text expressed willingness to face all odds and meet all battles in their quest for the crown.

“Playing with the biggest, deepest and most talented team (San Miguel Beer) in the PBA today, all we want is to compete with them,” said Reyes. (FCC)
