CCPO to get 4-story headquarters

INSTEAD of a two-story building, the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 will construct a four-story headquarters for the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).

PRO7 Director Ronald Roderos said one of the primary reasons in putting up a four-story building is the lack of parking space inside the Camp Sotero Cabahug compound along Gorordo Ave.

The proposed structure, which will include a parking area within the building, will be constructed on the site where the CCPO is presently holding office.

The Philippine National Police Manila earlier announced that it will allocate P16.8 million for the construction of a new CCPO building.

The Cebu City Government also set aside P5 million for its counterpart for the project. The amount will pay for the finishing touches, furniture and fixtures.

Roderos said a program of work and estimates is being prepared by the PRO 7 Engineering Division.

Once the construction starts, CCPO Director Patrocinio Comendador said several unit and section offices will have to transfer to another building.

He said the CCPO is coordinating with the City Government for a space that may be used as a temporarily shelter of the police force.

Comendador said they would like to occupy the vacant spaces at the Ramos Public Market.

Some sections may also temporarily hold office at the Mabolo Police Station and Waterfront Police Station, which were built through the Adopt-A-Station Program of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry and City Hall. (JTG)
