Friday, October 24, 2008 Pecandela boots out Northwoods to make IBP league finals
THE Pecandela Law Office ousted the top seed and title-favorite Northwoods following a scary 65-63 win in the final day of the semifinal round of the 2008 IBP Cebu Basketball tournament held at the Capitol Parish Gym last Saturday.
Pecandela went strong in the second quarter to overhaul a 10-15 deficit for a 22-16 scoring and never looked back to win the game.
Northwoods tried to bounce back in the third period but Pecandela held its grounds to stay undefeated in the semifinal round.
In the other match, the Eagles soared high with a 76-68 win over the winless Mandaue/Lapu-Lapu lawyers.
The game was fought closely in the opening quarter with the Eagles erecting an 18-16 lead at the end of the first.
Richard Bauzon started his moves and the bridge cities lawyers went 20-14 for a 36-32 lead at the half.
The Eagles, on the other hand, recovered and used a 23-15 binge in the third quarter to score the win.
Pecandela and the Eagles will start their Best-of-3 championship series this Saturday, while Northwoods and Man/Lap will play the knockout game for third place.(RCM)
