Tuesday, October 28, 2008 Central Visayas police officials express support for PNP chief
WITH some groups calling for Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Jesus Versoza to resign or take a leave of absence, the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 is standing by him.
In a statement, PRO 7 Director Ronald Roderos said they will continue to sustain the Integrated Transformation Program, a program Versoza handled while he was still deputy of then PNP chief Avelino Razon Jr.
“Amidst the issues hounding the organization, the PNP in Region 7 believes in the integrity of the current leadership and all its undertakings in the promotion for the good and welfare of the organization,” Roderos said.
Leadership
He also assured people that he will deliver what is expected of him as PRO 7 director.
“Under my leadership, the police force in Central Visayas will remain steadfast in its commitment to give the best police service that the people deserve with enthusiasm and perseverance. With you (Versoza) at the helm of the PNP, we will succeed,” Roderos said.
Regional Operations and Plans Division Chief Louie Oppus said they felt they had to come up with a manifesto of support because of the “trying times” the organization was experiencing.
He said that they were familiar with how Versoza helped in the PNP Integrated Transformation Program.
He cited Versoza’s work in the PNP housing board and the program management office, saying his programs showed concern for the welfare of the PNP personnel.
“His excellent perspective of police work coupled with holistic solutions can be seen by his reputation of besting not only his peers but even some of his upperclassmen in matters of promotion.
Reputation
“His excellent perspective can be seen by his reputation of besting not only his peers but even some of his upperclassmen in matters of promotion,” the manifesto read.
Among those who signed the manifesto were Roderos, Oppus, Senior Supt. Drusillo Bolodo, Senior Supt. Marcelo Garbo, CPPO Director Carmelo Valmoria, CCPO Director Patrocinio Comendador, Negros Oriental Police Office Director Augusto Marquez and acting Mandaue City Police Office Director Vicente Mersan Premne.
Other heads of national support units and division offices also affixed their signatures to the manifesto.
Oppus said they will present this to Versoza during his first command visit to the PRO 7 on Thursday.
Arrival honors will be afforded to him. After a short courtesy call to Cebu Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal, Versoza will proceed to Moalboal town to lead a coastal cleanup. (MEA)
