Rotary Banilad rules Metrosportsfest 2008

THE Rotary Club of Banilad Metro was declared the overall champion in the 18th National Rotary Metrosportsfest  hosted by the Rotary Club of Metro Cagayan de Oro last Oct. 24 to 26 at the Xavier Estate Clubhouse.

Banilad’s win ended the reign of Metro Iloilo, who ruled the event for 17 years.

The National Metro sportsfest was participated by over 25 Metro Rotary Clubs from all over the country.

The Rotary Club of Banilad Metro took the crown after winning first in billiard courtesy of Albert Moriles and in women’s marathon courtesy of Desiree Gahi.

Other winners for Banilad were president Kenneth Casquejo, who got fourth place in Men’s marathon; Ricky Ballesteros and Dr. Grace Balangkig, first place in dancesport. Casquejo and Maridel Claeys also got third place in dancesport.

Ballesteros also teamed up with Albert Moriles, Richard Buscaino, Ian Antony Osmeña and Michael Balangkig to win second in bowling, while Rico Tauhto, Allan Limas, Junrey Pelayo and Buscaino was also second in golf.

The Rotary Club of Banilad Metro garnered a total of 54 points, while second overall Rotary Club of Metro Roxas finished with 51 points, and third placer Rotary Club of Metro Iloilo settled for 39 points.

Last year’s Metrosportfest was hosted by the Rotary Club of Banilad Metro. (PR)
