3 boys, armed, ‘rob’ 18-year-old woman, use taxi as getaway car

THREE boys, described to be around 12 years old, reportedly robbed an 18-year-old woman in Barangay Manguto in the southern Cebu town of Pinamungajan last Friday afternoon.

Ediza Claire Tangarorang of Sitio Dakit, Poblacion, told Pinamungajan police that she was on a motorcycle traveling from the neighboring Sitio Bonbon when three boys blocked her path.

She said she was told not to look at their faces, and was forced to cooperate and to give her P2,800 cash because one of them was holding a firearm.

The three minors, she said, ran towards a parked taxicab, which was without its license plate.

The police believes the taxicab driver was an accomplice of the robbers, who fled towards Aloguinsan town.

The Pinamungajan Police Station is further investigating the incident to identify the three culprits.

Meanwhile, an 11-year-old boy was treated at the nearby Barili District Hospital after a bullet splinter hit him in the back during a shooting incident Friday night.

The police said the boy and his older sister were standing along the national road in Barangay Canduling, Ronda town when two men on a motorcycle passed them by.

The back-rider allegedly fired a gun once at the concrete road near them for no apparent reason, causing a bullet chip to injure the boy’s back.

The police have yet to identify the two men. (JTG)
