Wednesday, November 05, 2008 US-based Parica rules New Jersey billiards
US-BASED Pinoy billiards master Jose “Amang” Parica won the Joss NE 9-ball tour at the Comet Billiards in Parsippany, New Jersey in the US last weekend.
Parica won the $1,500 first place prize in the field of 45 competing players.
Parica started strong as he went undefeated to ear the hot-seat by defeating Adam Kieler 9-3 and Mike Zuglan 9-6.
Keiler rose from the one-loss side as he defeated Jeremy Sossie 9-2, then Joey Kong 9-6 to earn a shot against Zuglan in the semifinals.
Keilar survived with a 9-5 win over Zuglan, but his winning run did not intimidate the Pinoy billiard legend as Prica cruised to a 9-3 win to win the top prize.
Keilar however earned $1100 for his losing effort.
Parica was among the Filipino squad that displayed tough form in the recently concluded US 9-ball Open.
Parica however, failed to go beyond seven rounds in the $40,000 top prize tournament that saw Finnish Mika Immonen beating Ronato Alcano in the finals. (RCM)
