Drunk driver runs over 3 cops jogging on Gorordo Ave.

THREE policemen who were jogging with a group of 62 officers got hit by a speeding car driven by an allegedly drunk man yesterday morning.

SPO2 Enrico Iway of the Mandaue City Police Office Station 6 is confined at a private hospital while SPO2 Miguelito Romano and SPO3 Joel Suello suffered minor injuries.

Romano is assigned with the PNP Medical Service while Suello is with the Cebu City Mobile Group.

Detained was Antonio Angelo Rosello, 43, of Barangay Apas, the driver of a Mitsubishi Space Wagon.

Rosello reportedly admitted he had too much to drink and fell asleep while driving home.

PO3 Armando Radoc of the Cebu City Traffic Group said Rosello had been on a night out downtown and was heading home to San Antonio Village in Barangay Apas.

When he reached the intersection of Escario St. and Gorordo Ave., the vehicle went straight to the group of policemen.

Iway was injured in the right buttock down to his leg.

Iway and the rest of the officers were on their first jogging exercise that was part of the Senior Leadership and Supervisory Course being held at the Regional Training School.

The course is required for officers who want to be promoted to the rank of SPO4.

The officers began schooling last Monday.

Rosello reportedly tested positive in a liquor test administered on him.

However, he was released later in the afternoon after he and the police officers agreed to a settlement. (MEA)
