MANILA - The Alaska Aces seek their sixth win when they meet defending champion Sta. Lucia Realty today in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Cuneta Astrodome.
Alaska dropped to the second spot with a 5-2 slate after San Miguel Beer survived two overtime periods over Air 21 Express, 130-129, on Wednesday.
However, the Express formally filed a protest yesterday before the commissioner’s office over the heartbreaking setback because the referees, led by Mario Montiel, gave only two points in what supposed to be a triple by Ranidel de Ocampo, which could have won them the game in the first five-minute extension.
“We will fight for it. We will claim our stolen victory. They (referees) are depriving us of what is due to us. We know, we have a very strong case here,” said Perasol.
The Air 21 management led by team manager Lito Alvarez and coach Bo Perasol seek to review the tape of the controversial shot by the 6-foot-4 De Ocampo in the last 9.8 seconds of the first overtime.
Perasol expressed confidence commissioner Barrios will be fair to the Express and will reward them their supposed fourth win in eight matches.
“I believe in the fairness of commissioner Barrios (Sonny). I knew he will give back to us the victory,” said Perasol. (FCC)
