TCC Billiards may skip Villar Cup

CONFUSIONS and the lack of proper coordination may lead to Team Cebu City’s to skip the Bacolod International Billiards Festival on Nov. 12 to 16 in Bacolod City.

Cebu City sports committee chairman Sylvan “Jack” Jakosalem told Sun.Star Cebu that he was confused on the conflicting dates of the tournament.

“We are confused because the (invitation) letter says (the tournament) Dec. 5 to 9, in both pages. Then when I called (the organizing committee) a while ago (yesterday) they said Nov. 8,” Jakosalem said.

Members of Team Cebu City billiards have been identified already but Jakosalems’ concern right now is the budget for the team since they will have to stay in Bacolod for at least five days.

Nov. 8 was scheduled to be the starting date of the qualifying tournament of the $30,000 International 9-ball Open tournament which will feature former world champions Alex Pagulayan, Efren Reyes and Ronato Alcano, Francisco Bustamante, Dennis Orcullo, Lee Van Corteza and the winners of the past Villar Cup legs Warren Kiamco, Gandy Valle, Ramil Gallego and Roberto Gomez.

Foregin players

Veteran international players who are invited are former World Cup of Pool titlist Fu Jianbo of China, former Asian Games gold medalist Satoshi Kawabata of Japan, Christian Johannessen of Norway, ex-world champion Wu Chia-Ching and Chang Jung-Lin of Chinese-Taipei, Marcus Chamat of Sweden and newly-crowned Guinness 9-ball Grand Champion Yang Ching-Shun of Chinese-Taipei.
