Saturday, November 08, 2008 Contributory infringement By Clint Fabiosa & Andrew Ong I protect
COPYRIGHT infringement liability does not only attach when one is directly involved in the reproduction of copyrighted materials. If an offended party is able to prove that you knew of the infringing activity and had contributed to it by actual assistance or inducement, then one may be held liable for contributory infringement of a copyright.
Contributory infringement is another form of indirect infringement that is often observed in peer-to-peer file network sharing websites. Distributing or providing software cracks, access codes or other security codes in order to access or use software is also considered a contributory infringement activity.
