Thursday, November 13, 2008 Things to do this sem break By Henry L. Yu, M.D.
WITH Christmas just around the corner, the long school break will surely mean vacant time to fill up for the young and old alike. Here are a few things you can do.
l Sit down in the mall lobby and watch people pass by.
l Go window shopping.
l WatchTV and sleep late at night.
l Take a brisk walk for a mile or two.
l Watch the sunset in the boulevard.
l Water the plants.
l Go farming or fishing.
l Go out to the beach or pool for a swim.
l Read books and learn something new.
l Go biking, hiking, or mountain climbing.
l Wake up late, and have a hearty and leisurely breakfast. Eat slowly.
l Clean your room and assort things in your cabinet.
l Send some text thoughts to your friends that will soothe their aching heart.
l Watch movies on the big screen.
l Avail yourself of the 50-70 percent Christmas Sales Promo.
l Go and see those places which have been part of your yesteryears.
l Visit long-time-no-see relatives and friends.
l Reunite with some high school classmates.
l Do some charitable works.
l Do some household chores.
l Play the piano, violin, or any musical instrument of your choice.
l Go bowling with your barkada.
l Write poetry, essay, or any article that will express your inner thoughts.
l Do telebabad (telephone “brigade”), but then your parents may not like this too much.
l Savor once again the food that you grew up with.
l Stay overnight in a beach resort.
l Watch a free stage play or concert at the mall.
l Spend an afternoon watching old films on TV and bring back the good old days.
l Go camping and nature tripping.
l Have a potluck party.
l Go to your hairdresser for a new you.
l Take a look at those pictures in the albums once again.
l Go to a fortune teller and know what lies ahead. This is just for fun, though.
l Buy yourself a gift that you think you so deserve.
l Spend an afternoon in the prayer room. Just you and God.
